Watchdog probing new Trump reports on election

The Wall Street Journal reported President Trump tried pressing top Justice Department officials to go directly to the Supreme Court to try to overturn the results of the presidential election. CBS News has confirmed Mr. Trump wanted then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to enact that failed plan. The department's inspector general is investigating those claims. New reports surfaced over the weekend surrounding former President Trump's plans to attempt to invalidate President Biden's election victory. According to the Wall Street Journal, Mr. Trump pressed the Justice Department to go directly to the Supreme Court to try to overturn the results. Hearings start for Biden's cabinet nominees

The Senate is kicking off a series of high-stakes confirmation hearings Tuesday for President-elect Joe Biden's top cabinet nominees. Lawmakers will question his picks to lead the Departments of State, Treasury, Homeland Security and Defense along with the director of national intelligence.
