Vatican defrocks American priest

An American priest has been defrocked by the Vatican. Father Frank Pavone had been investigated by his then-diocese of Amarillo, Texas, for placing an aborted fetus on an altar and posting a video of it on social media. He posts frequently about U.S. politics and abortion. Thirty-six people were injured -- about a dozen seriously -- when their Hawaiian Airlines flight was rocked by turbulence. Hawaii’s Mauna Loa volcano quieting down

Scientists say the eruption of the Mauna Loa volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island is easing - and may soon end. It began spewing molton rock more than two weeks ago after being quiet for nearly 40 years. AAA estimates that 113 million people will go 50 miles or more away from home from Dec. 23 through Jan.2. And “Black Panther, Wakanda Forever” topped the box office for the fifth straight weekend. So far, it’s the sixth-highest grossing movie of the year.

Warnock projected to win Ga. Senate runoff

In Georgia's run-off election, incumbent Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock has defeated Republican challenger Herschel Walker, giving democrats an outright majority of 51-49- in the senate and capping off an underwhelming midterm elections cycle for the GOP. A federal judge has agreed to dismiss a civil lawsuit against Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman for the killing of Jamal Khashoggi. And Hawaii officials have activated the National Guard after the Mauna Loa volcano eruption sent lava toward a key highway.
