FBI searches Mike Pence’s home for documents

The FBI conducted an exhaustive five-hour search of the Indiana home of former Vice President Mike Pence. The search for classified documents follows reports that Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, investigating former President Trump's efforts to overturn the election, has subpoenaed Pence to testify under oath about the pressure campaign he faced from Trump. FBI searches Mike Pence's home in Indiana

The FBI conducted a consensual search for classified documents Friday at former Vice President Mike Pence's home in Carmel, Indiana, CBS News has confirmed. The search comes on the heels of CBS News learning that Pence has been subpoenaed as part of the Justice Department's investigations into former President Donald Trump. Charles McCullough, a senior partner at Compass Rose Legal Group and a former inspector general of the intelligence community, joined CBS News to discuss the breaking news.

Safeguarding sensitive information in D.C.

The U.S. government's ability to safeguard its most sensitive information is under fire. On Friday, former Vice President Mike Pence acknowledged "mistakes were made" after classified documents were recently found in his Indiana home. The discoveries with Pence, former President Trump and President Biden have prompted the National Archives to ask every living former president and vice president to check for classified records.
