OpenAI's ChatGPT gets new advancements

ChatGPT has become even more advanced in its ability to inform and interact with users. OpenAI confirmed Wednesday the artificial intelligence-powered system can now browse the internet to provide users with the most up-to-date information when previously it only used data up to September 2021. OpenAI also announced this week that ChatGPT can now "see, hear, and speak" with users through newly rolled-out features. Kyle Wiggers, senior enterprise reporter at TechCrunch, joined CBS News to talk about the updates.

ChatGPT and mental health questions

A new study in the JAMA Network Open journal found that when ChatGPT was asked about abuse, addiction, suicide or other medical crises, it only returned referrals to critical resources about 22% of the time. But researchers also found the AI tool provided evidence-based responses, like information from the CDC's website, 91% of the time. John Ayers, one of the authors of that study and vice chief of innovation at the University of California San Diego Medicine, joined CBS News to talk about the results.
