Senate holds national security hearing

The Senate Homeland Security Committee held a "Worldwide Threats" hearing Tuesday morning as lawmakers try to understand how national security has changed in the 20 years since the 9/11 terror attacks. CBS News Homeland Security and Justice reporter Nicole Sganga spoke with CBSN's Tanya Rivero about the hearing, at which Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, National Counterterrorism Center Director Christine Abizaid, and FBI Director Christopher Wray testified.

Unrest in Cuba and Haiti sparks U.S. migration concerns

The U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security are warning asylum seekers in Cuba and Haiti against traveling to the U.S. by sea. In this fiscal year alone, the Coast Guard says it has intercepted more than 550 Cubans attempting to enter U.S. waters. GOP's infrastructure counteroffer

Republican senators are expected to make a counteroffer to the White House on infrastructure with a proposal worth nearly $1 trillion. That's less than half of what President Biden originally proposed and the lowest figure Republicans say he told them he would support. CBS News congressional correspondent Nikole Killion, CBSN political contributor and Associated Press White House reporter Zeke Miller, and Washington Post deputy Washington editor Natalie Jennings join "Red and Blue" anchor Elaine Quijano with more on those negotiations.
