Deadline for Israel to boost Gaza aid passes

U.S. forces conducted a second straight day of strikes over Syria Tuesday, hitting targets linked to Iranian-aligned militia groups in response to recent attacks on U.S. personnel, according to U.S. Central Command. Meanwhile, the 30-day deadline the U.S. set for Israel to increase humanitarian assistance in Gaza has passed with the U.N. saying the level of aid is nowhere near the level required to support residents there. CBS News senior foreign correspondent Elizabeth Palmer has more.

Barriers to a cease-fire in Gaza

Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been in the Middle East trying to revive talks for a cease-fire and hostage release in Gaza. Blinken said Israel's military has achieved its goal of "effectively dismantling" Hamas. "CBS Mornings" talks to Dan Senor who served as White House foreign policy adviser in the George W. Bush administration and Arwa Damon, the founder of the humanitarian nonprofit Inara, about the remaining barriers to a cease-fire in Gaza.
