U.S. Navy Secretary reads declaration exonerating sailors unjustly punished in Port Chicago explosion

The U.S. Navy on Wednesday formally exonerated 256 Black sailors who were punished during World War II after a massive explosion killed hundreds of service members at the former Port Chicago naval weapons station near San Francisco. Navy Secretary Carlos Del Toro reads a declaration on the 80th anniversary of the disaster.
