I am the definition of a weather nerd, interested in basically every type of meteorological phenomenon. I'm so excited to learn about all the microclimates of the Bay Area and join a fantastic team of meteorologists at CBS News. Being from Chicago, I am used to hot summers and cold winters, but it's very different here! I quickly learned the "always grab a sweater" rule in San Francisco.
I studied Atmospheric Sciences at Indiana University where I was president of the Weather Club and graduated top of my class. My first job out of college was in Greenville, North Carolina at WNCT-9 where I quickly grew comfortable and fell in love with being in front of the green screen. While in North Carolina, I was also an adjunct professor at East Carolina University teaching Principles of Synoptic Meteorology – which is all about forecasting the weather using math equations (yes, there's a lot of math that goes into meteorology!).
From there I went to Albuquerque, New Mexico, working at KRQE-13. I had never lived west of the Mississippi River before, but the mountains and beauty of the western US has truly captured my heart. The state of New Mexico is easily one of the most underrated places in the country, and I would strongly suggest visiting if you love the outdoors. Or if you love hot air balloons, because Albuquerque's International Balloon Fiesta is so much fun.
After forecasting for several monsoon seasons, multiple hurricanes, dust storms, blizzards, and tornadoes I am so excited to tackle this new challenge forecasting for the Bay Area. In my free time I love to explore the outdoors – whether it's going on hikes, visiting National Parks, golfing, scuba diving, going to wineries, or just looking at beautiful landscapes. Please share your favorite places to explore in the Bay Area. I can't wait to check them all out!
