Yosemite Park Reopens Despite Continued Power Outage
YOSEMITE (CBS/AP) - Yosemite National Park is back open with limited services after being closed for three days when a powerful storm left roads blocked and power lines down.
The park still has no electricity, but officials said the three main roads leading into Yosemite have been cleared of snow and fallen trees. The entrances on Highways 120, 140 and 41 will be open until dark on Thursday.
Meanwhile, utility crews were working on replacing a power transmission pole that was knocked out by a rock slide. Park buildings have been operating on emergency generators.
Officials said the park will fully reopen to the public on Friday. That's when a winter storm warning expires and full food service is planned to resume. All campgrounds, though, will remain closed until mid-Monday.
