Yahoo CEO's Brother Sentenced In Domestic Violence Case
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS / AP) -- The brother of Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer has been sentenced to three years of probation following his arrest for allegedly beating his former girlfriend.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports 34-year-old Mason Mayer pleaded guilty Friday to a reduced charge of misdemeanor false imprisonment under a plea deal with San Francisco prosecutors.
Mayer was arrested in November and charged with three felonies— assault, false imprisonment and domestic violence.
Prosecutors say they agreed to the plea bargain partly to allow Mayer's former girlfriend to avoid the stress of a trial.
In court Friday, 31-year-old Kelli Ann Trent said she delayed reporting the alleged domestic violence because Mayer threatened to use his family's "power and influence" to ruin her name.
Mayer and his attorney didn't comment during Friday's hearing.
