Word Of Sex Tape Provides Stunning New Twist In Lockyer Scandal
ALAMEDA (CBS SF) - The already strange story involving the wife of state Treasurer Bill Lockyer, Alameda County Supervisor Nadia Lockyer - and her relationship with a man her husband calls a former boyfriend - has taken another twist with word of a sex tape.
According to a Matier and Ross column in the San Francisco Chronicle, the Treasurer was given the tape about six weeks before an incident at a Newark hotel that landed his wife in the hospital and the under police scrutiny.
KCBS' Bob Melrose Reports:
Bill Lockyer reportedly contacted Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O'Malley in an attempt to get a court order banning the man - identified in published reports as 35-year-old Stephen Chikhani of San Jose - from approaching his wife. That attempt failed, after prosecutors determined the relationship between Nadia Lockyer and Chikhani was consensual.
Mrs. Lockyer and Chikhani have reportedly had contact since the hotel incident and according to the column, Mr. Lockyer has spoken with Chikani's father in an attempt to get the sex tape and any other compromising images destroyed.
Following the incident at the Newark hotel, Nadia Lockyer announced she was taking a leave of absence from her supervisor position to undergo treatment for substance abuse.
Court records show Chikhani has been arrested at least 10 times in the last 15 years. He was last arrested in September for possessing and being under the influence of the methamphetamine.
