Wong Named New President Of San Francisco State
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS / AP) -- Les Wong has resigned as president of Northern Michigan University in Marquette to become president of San Francisco State University.
Wong has been president of Northern Michigan since 2004. Previously, he was vice president for academic affairs at Valley City State University in North Dakota.
Northern Michigan announced Thursday that David Haynes will succeed Wong. He has held various posts at the Upper Peninsula university for 27 years and presently is an associate professor of political science and public administration.
Haynes also is co-director of Northern Michigan's Center for Rural Community and Economic Development.
Board of Trustees Chairman Brian Cloyd says Haynes' appointment is for at least two years.
