Women Earning More Than Men In Some East Bay Cities
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Women are out-earning men in a few East Bay cities, according to a new study.
Financial advice website NerdWallet studied wage differences between men and women in the U.S. using census data and found that women were earning higher wages in Richmond, Hayward, and Oakland.
The calculations didn't include how many hours were being worked, so it could be that women are just working more than men. But, Oakland earned the 7th spot on the list, where women were seeing wages 8.8 percent higher than their male counterparts.
Women in Hayward were earning 4.5 percent higher wages than men. In Richmond, women were earning just 0.3 percent higher wages than men.
Inglewood had the largest gap, with women earning just over 20 percent more than men.
