Woman Killed While Crossing Santa Clara Street
SANTA CLARA (BCN) - A pedestrian struck by a car as she crossed a Santa Clara street Monday morning died from her injuries later that day, according to police.
About 6:15 a.m., 59-year-old Morena A. Torres was attempting to cross Tasman Drive at Calle Del Sol when she was struck by a gold 2008 Honda CRV, police said.
Santa Clara fire personnel administered CPR before Torres was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:50 a.m.
Police said a 74-year-old Sunnyvale man was driving the Honda, but did not say whether or not he was taken into custody.
An investigation of the crash is ongoing, and police said they have ruled out drugs and alcohol as factors.
