Woman Killed In Possible Hit-And-Run Crash In Mountain View
MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) -- A woman was killed in a crash on state Highway 85 in Mountain View Saturday evening that is being investigated as a possible hit and run, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman, described as a Mountain View resident in her 20s, was driving north on Highway 85 near the Evelyn Avenue offramp shortly before 6:30 p.m. when her vehicle, a 1996 Audi A4, lost control for an unknown reason, according to CHP Officer Art Montiel.
The vehicle went off a road and struck a tree on the south side of the freeway. The woman was declared dead at the scene.
Investigators are looking for a second vehicle that left the scene of the crash, described as a white Toyota Camry with a license plate number of 5JNM316, Montiel said.
It is unclear at this point, however, whether the two vehicles
actually made contact or if the second vehicle contributed to the crash in some way, Montiel said.
The crash closed two lanes on Highway 84 for around 40 minutes, and the Evelyn Avenue offramp for several hours, Montiel said.
