Woman Kidnapped At Gunpoint, Driven To ATM From SJ Parking Lot In Craigslist Robbery
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A woman who was kidnapped at gunpoint from a big-box store parking lot and robbed Monday in East San Jose had agreed to meet two men she met on Craigslist to buy iPhones, according to police.
The woman, who is not being identified, called police at 9:04 p.m. Monday to report two men had kidnapped her from a Target store off of Aborn Road, took her to a bank to withdraw money and then released her, police Officer Albert Morales said.
She earlier agreed to meet the two suspects at the Target to purchase iPhones advertised on Craigslist, Morales said.
While waiting in the store parking lot, she started to have reservations about the purchase, concerned that the phones might not be legitimate, Morales said.
When the pair of suspects drove up in a car, she was surprised because she thought she would be meeting only one person, police said.
The suspects, who never produced any phones for sale, then grabbed her at gunpoint, pulled her into their car and drove her to a nearby Wells Fargo bank so she could withdraw money, Morales said.
They later took her back near the Target where an unknown amount of money was exchanged, dropped her off at the intersection of Aborn and King roads and drove away, Morales said.
The investigation into the robbery and kidnapping is ongoing, according to police.
