Woman Drives Car Into State Farm Insurance Office In Brentwood
BRENTWOOD (CBS SF) -- No injuries were reported after a woman drove her car into a State Farm Insurance office in Brentwood on Monday, a police sergeant said Tuesday.
Police and fire personnel responded around 4 p.m. to a report of a car that had crashed into a building at 2200 Sand Creek Road, according to East Contra Costa Fire Protection District Chief Hugh Henderson.
A woman was attempting to park at the shopping center when she hit the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal, Brentwood police Sgt. Dave Schroer said.
Schroer said the woman, who is in her early 40s, was planning to drop her son off at a child learning center inside the shopping center. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors in the case, he said.
"It was basically just an accident," Schroer said.
No one inside the store was injured and a building inspector later deemed the structure to be safe, according to Schroer.
State Farm will take care of replacing a glass window that was broken in the crash, he said.
