Woman Dies After Jumping Form Aptos Highway Overpass
APTOS (BCN) - A woman jumped to her death off the State Park Drive overpass on northbound state Highway 1 in Aptos Tuesday morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The CHP received a report of a woman who was attempting to jump off the overpass about 8:20 a.m., Officer Sarah Jackson said.
By the time officers arrived about two minutes later, she had already fallen onto the freeway below and died, she said.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death.
State Park Drive, as well as the No. 1 lane of Highway 1, where the woman fell, was closed for an hour and a half while officers investigated.
