Woman Charged With Manslaughter, DUI In Twin Peaks Pedestrian Crash
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A suspected drunken driver who allegedly ran into several pedestrians at the Twin Peaks lookout point on Thursday night, killing one, has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, a district attorney's office spokesman said Monday.
Gina Eunice, 23, was charged Monday with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, two counts of DUI causing injury, and one count of hit-and-run resulting in death, all felonies, district attorney's spokesman Alex Bastian said.
Eunice also faces two misdemeanor counts of endangering the health of a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, he said.
She is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday afternoon, Bastian said.
Eunice was arrested after a collision on Christmas Tree Point Road on Twin Peaks at about 8:50 p.m. Thursday that killed 56-year-old Chinese citizen Yuee Yao.
Police said the suspect's sedan struck Yao and two other victims, knocking them off the roadway and down a hillside. A fourth pedestrian managed to jump out of the way.
The victims were taken to a hospital, where Yao died. The other pedestrians' injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
Police found the sedan in the lookout parking lot and took Eunice into custody. Two men in the car, ages 22 and 25, were arrested on suspicion of public drunkenness, police said.
There was also a 17-year-old girl in the car who suffered minor injuries and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, according to police.
