Woman Charged With Boyfriend's Fatal Stabbing In Walnut Creek
WALNUT CREEK (BCN) -- Prosecutors charged a transgender woman Monday for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to death during a domestic dispute at his home in Walnut Creek on Thursday.
The woman, 24-year-old Oakland resident Akira Tajah Jackson, who is biologically male and changed her name from David Gavin, was charged with murder with an enhancement for the use of a knife in connection with the slaying of 56-year-old Walnut Creek resident Alan Gray, Contra Costa County Deputy District Attorney Barry Grove said.
Grove said the couple had broken up several times in the past and appeared to be going through another quarrel Thursday morning.
Walnut Creek police said they were called around 9:20 a.m. to Gray's home on Santa Rita Drive to respond to a domestic dispute.
When officers arrived, they found Gray in front of his house suffering from a stab wound. Jackson was still inside.
Gray was transported to John Muir Medical Center, where he died, police said.
Jackson was arrested and taken to county jail in Martinez.
Grove said there had been reports of domestic violence between the couple but no prior convictions.
