Woman Arrested For Pinching Children At Mountain View Bookstore
MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) - Mountain View police arrested a woman on Thursday on suspicion of pinching children's cheeks in a bookstore.
Polly Beltramo, 46, of Palo Alto, was arrested at about 2:50 p.m. after she allegedly pinched two children on the cheek, police said.
Officers arrested her at 750 Castro St.
Prosecutors have not yet filed charges against Beltramo, but she is scheduled for an arraignment hearing on Jan. 26, said Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Lisa McCrary.
She was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail but has since been released on her own recognizance, said McCrary.
Police initially said Beltramo bit the kids on the cheek, but released a statement today saying, "We no longer believe the two children were bitten by the suspect ... the injuries are not consistent with being bit."
The statement went on to say that there are no credible witnesses other than a toddler who reportedly saw the woman committing the crime.
