With New Apple Announcement, When's A Good Time To Sell Your Old iPhone?
(CBS SF) -- If you're planning to buy one of the new iPhones being unveiled Tuesday, you might want to sell your old phone, and post haste.
"To get the most money from your iPhone, I would sell it as soon as possible," CNET reporter Shana Tibken said. "These are going to lose value. When the new iPhone comes out, everyone is looking that so now is the time to sell."
And if previous iPhones are any indicator, your 5 has likely lost 10 percent of its value over just the past two months.
The top resell sites are offering between $285-$320 for a Verizon 64GB 5s.
Your phone will likely lose another 5 percent of its value in the next 10 days leading up to the September 19 release date, then drop another 20 percent by November.
Values often see a slight increase right around the holidays, too.
