Winter Storm Brought Rain, Snow To Northern California
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS / AP / BCN) - A winter storm hit Northern California on Tuesday, bringing with it chilly temperatures, rain and snow as low as 1,500 feet.
The rain moved south by late afternoon into Monterey County after it passed over the North Bay, East Bay and San Francisco and Peninsula areas. There were reports of small hail in the North Bay, along with a light dusting of snow at the top of Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County.
The heaviest snow occurred in the central and southern Sierra, where some areas saw as much as a foot of snow. Snow resorts around Lake Tahoe received up to 8 inches of snow.
"Nothing beats the feeling of skiing or riding through that fresh powder and it's still blowing in your face and you can't really quite see where you're going and you feel like you're floating," said Kathy Morrow, a spokeswoman for the Kirkwood resort.

Temperatures throughout the region ranged from the mid-30s to high 40s on Tuesday.
For the rest of the week, KPIX 5 chief meteorologist Paul Deanno said said to expect continued cold temperatures.
Finally: Rain and Snow Headed to Northern California
Tuesday's showers also brought some strong winds, which prompted the California Highway Patrol to issue advisories on the San Mateo-Hayward and Benicia-Martinez bridges. Wind gusts in parts of the Bay Area reached up to 30 mph.
