Wine Country Grape Growers Pleased With 2012 Crop
SONOMA (KCBS) — After being challenged with cold and wet weather last year, Napa and Sonoma wine grape growers said this year's crop is shaping up to look very good.
Warm days and cool nights are just what the farmers wanted, according to Nick Frey with the Sonoma County Wine Grape Commission.
"It's just about been ideal. The crop looks good and really growers have had very few problems this year," Frey said.

Frey added that this year's Pinot Noir is looking the best.
Meanwhile in Napa, things are looking just as promising. Jon Ruel of the Napa Valley Grapegrowers said growers are excited about what they are seeing.
"This year with the nice weather in May and June we have a nice crop out there," Ruel said. "It's much improved over last year in terms of quantity, but I wouldn't say it's going to be an above average crop either. It looks about normal."
The sparkling wine grape harvest may start in mid-August, with most of the grapes being picked after Labor Day.
