Who's Hiring In The Bay Area?
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX 5) - Hundreds of high-paying jobs with excellent benefits are up for grabs in the Bay Area, if you know where to look. ConsumerWatch has identified several firms hunting qualified career-seekers, click the links below for more information:
Solar City
San Mateo-based SolarCity is a solar panel installation company with plans to hire more field installers and salespersons.
The firm is looking to hire nearly 300 new employees every business quarter, even as the unemployment rate in California hovers around 10 percent.
PG&E
Looking to replace aging infrastructure, Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is set to hire 5,500 employees. The utility said they are especially interested in women and veterans to fill those jobs.
California's largest utility provider is working to overhaul its aging gas line system. That massive project, coupled with an aging work force, prompted PG&E to start its own job training program called Power Pathways.
Whole Foods Markets
Whole Foods started in 1980 with just under 20 people at its flagship store in Texas. It now has 73,000 employees, with 400 stores in 3 countries. The chain is now expanding with three new Bay Area stores...resulting in about with 500 new jobs.
Genentech
Genentech expects to fill nearly 600 new positions this year, many at their South San Francisco headquarters. The Bay Area biotech giant consistently lands on Fortune Magazine's list of top companies to work for.
Positions vary from the expected M.D.'s and Ph.D.'s to IT classifications and salespeople.
LinkedIn
LinkedIn is likely the best job hunting tool around, but it's also a major Bay Area employer looking to increase staffing as membership soars. The Mountain View tech giant has nearly 200 job openings in the Bay Area alone.
Home Depot
The Home Depot is looking to hire 80,000 seasonal workers, and several hundred of those jobs are expected to land in the Bay Area.
