What Would You Do If You Found An Abandoned Package?
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Two Oakland women chose to do the right thing by returning an abandoned package they found near train tracks that ended up containing scarves made in support of a teenage cancer patient in Dublin.
19-year old Camille Chabot is battling stage 4 lymphoma cancer, and the night before her fifth chemotherapy there was an unexpected knock at her door.
Her mom Kerrie cautiously answered. "It was dark and all of a sudden to the left I saw a young girl carrying a heavy box up the sidewalk," Kerrie told KPIX 5.
A mother and daughter from East Oakland had found the box near their home, read the address on it and ended up connecting the lost parcel with its intended recipient. The two drove from Oakland in rush hour traffic to deliver the package to the Dublin address. The box ended up containing scarves meant to be a gift to Camille's family and friends for their love and support.
The scarves have a message written on them, "#CAMILLESTRONG."
It's unknown if the box was actually stolen, or had fallen off a truck passing over the train tracks, or was somehow left there accidentally by a deliveryperson.
