Wet Weather Causes Deadly Accidents On Bay Area Roads
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol is asking everyone to slow down during the rainy commute. The rain-slick roads become deadly.
One person was killed and 3 others injured shortly before 4 a.m. Monday morning near the Almaden Expressway in San Jose. The CHP said a truck veered off the road and crashed into a tree.
There was a fatal accident early Monday morning on State Highway 221 in Napa. When officers arrived, the car was sitting 100 feet away from the road facing the opposite direction.
Wet weather was definitely a factor in two serious accidents in Sonoma County Sunday.
The CHP said 27-year-old Julie Floyd of Napa was killed when her car lost control and hit an oncoming vehicle on Porter Creek Road.
"Given the wet roads she didn't have good traction and that's what caused her to go sideways," said CHP officer Brent Townsend. "Slow down, in the wet weather, it definitely makes a difference."
In another accident, a driver who was trying to spin his wheels lost control.
His car slammed into a white pickup truck carrying a family on D Street in Petaluma.
Everyone in that crash survived.
