Shooting Closes Westbound 580 In Oakland For Hours
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Oakland police shut down all westbound lanes of Interstate 580 in East Oakland for more than two hours to investigate a shooting Wednesday night, officials said.
The highway was shut down around 8:40 p.m. near the highway's intersection with Edwards Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Oakland police said the investigation was related to suspects in two vehicles shooting at each other, but no victims hit by gunfire have been reported yet.
Authorities told CBS 5 two cars riddled with bullets were found near the Seminary Avenue exit.
Two of the westbound lanes were reopened around 10:50 p.m. All lanes reopened at about 11:30 p.m., according to the CHP.
Oakland Police were also called to the scene of a fatal shooting a mile away on Seminary Avenue and Hilton Street. The shooting was reported at 9:39 p.m.
Police found a male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not determined if the two incidents are related.
