Warrant Issued For Man Suspected Of Assault Caught On Video In San Jose Park
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Authorities have issued a felony warrant for a man suspected of attacking another man in a San Jose park restroom over Labor Day weekend, in an apparent case of street justice caught on video.
San Jose police said Francisco Javier Olivo assaulted an elderly male in the restroom at Fowler Creek Park in the city's Evergreen neighborhood around 7:45 p.m. Monday, according to a statement released Thursday.
Police believe Olivo was among a group of angry parents who confronted the man, who they accused of exposing himself to children inside the restroom.
Video of the incident was taken by an associate of Olivo and turned over to police. It showed the man pleading to be let go, but instead gets hit repeatedly. As the man was beaten, a woman told others in the crowd to call police.
The man tried to get away, but his escape was blocked by other young men. He received one more punch, which drew blood, before he was let go.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to contact Detective Cruz of the San Jose Police Department's Assaults Unit at 408-277-4161. Tips can be left anonymously by contacting Crime Stoppers at 408-947-STOP (7867).
