Video Captures Future Vision Of San Francisco Patrolled By Drone
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - If you've ever wondered what the world will look like if and when our streets are policed by drones, you aren't alone. Earlier this month a San Francisco designer posted a video on YouTube depicting his vision of 'Our Drone Future."
Alex Cornell's sci-fi future of policing captures the city of San Francisco from above as drone surveys for possible criminal activity. Throughout the clip, a human controller can be heard interacting with the artificial intelligence unit that acts as the drone's pilot.
The fictional drone is able to independently assess threats, calculate traffic density and even identify individual drivers from above the Golden Gate Bridge. The clip ends with the drone disobeying orders and being taken out by a criminal on city streets.
According to Cornell, co-founder of the San Francisco startup Firespotter Labs, the three-minute video "explores the technology, capability, and purpose of drones, as their presence becomes an increasingly pervasive."
Since being posted on December 9th, the video has received over 188,000 views.
