Vallejo Police ID Suspect In Fatal Shooting
VALLEJO (BCN) -- Vallejo police have identified the suspect arrested in connection with a Saturday morning shooting that left a woman dead in a vehicle, the second homicide in the city in two days.
At 4:58 a.m., a caller told police that a white Ford Tempo was driven into the dead end of Dublin Drive and parked, police said.
Two black males were seen walking away from the vehicle, according to police.
Officers arrived at 5:04 a.m. and spotted the two men, who ran when they saw police.
Officers approached the vehicle and found a woman in the front seat, 27-year-old Cacee Savella of Alameda, dead from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.
Pursuing officers noticed that one of the suspects had blood on his clothing, police said.
After a fruitless search for the suspects, officers deployed K-9 officers and handlers that specialized in tracking.
At 7:15 a.m., a Vallejo K-9, named Jaeger, located one of the suspects hiding in a yard on Corcoran Avenue, police said.
The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Vallejo resident Virshon
Darian Ruff, was taken to a hospital for treatment of bites inflicted by Jaeger and was later booked into Solano County Jail.
Detectives are still searching for the second suspect, who is described as a black man with a medium complexion and a short Afro. He is approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. The suspect had discarded his bloody shirt and was last seen wearing blue jeans.
A motive for the shooting has not yet been determined, police said.
Other law enforcement agencies, including the Solano County Sheriff's Office, American Canyon Police Department, Napa Police Department, Martinez Police Department and Pleasant Hill Police Department also assisted in the search for the suspects.
The homicide comes almost exactly 24 hours after a similar shooting elsewhere in the city.
At about 5 a.m. Friday, Enrique Alejandro Jimenez was found fatally shot in a white Ford Bronco on Admiral Callaghan Lane, located just off of Interstate Highway 80.
Jimenez, 23, of Vallejo, was apparently shot while he was waiting to be picked up to go to work, Weaver said.
"He was waiting for his boss, they carpooled together," he said.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting and no suspect information was available as of Saturday evening.
The shootings stand as Vallejo's first two homicides of 2011, Weaver said.
Anyone with information about either incident is urged to call Vallejo police at (707) 648-4321.
