Vallejo Woman Arrested For Identity Theft Operation
BENICIA (CBS SF) -- A woman was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of operating an extensive identity theft and fraud operation out of a room at the Best Western Plus Heritage Inn in Benicia, a police lieutenant said.
Dayna Huntsman, 40, who gave an Oakland address, was on federal probation for fraud, Lt. Frank Hartig said.
She was arrested on suspicion of burglary, forgery, identity theft, possession of stolen property, fraudulent use of a California state seal, and drug charges, Hartig said.
Huntsman had booked the room at the Heritage Inn, located at 1955 East Second St., online with a credit card that was stolen from a business in Vallejo, Hartig said.
Huntsman and Adrian Hayes, 34, of Vallejo, were leaving the hotel room when officers arrived around 1 p.m. Wednesday, Hartig said.
Police arrested Hayes on a misdemeanor domestic violence warrant and he was booked into Solano County Jail. He was being held on $7,500 bail, Hartig said.
A federal probation officer who also responded to the scene then helped Benicia police search the hotel room, Hartig said.
They found credit cards, employment papers containing several people's personal data, tax papers, forged checks, stolen identification items, a laptop computer, a fax machine, a printer and drug paraphernalia, Hartig said.
Huntsman has served time in state prison and has an extensive criminal record, according to authorities.
