Vallejo Robbery Suspect Fatally Shot By Storeowner Identified
VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Police have identified a man who was fatally shot while allegedly trying to rob a Vallejo jewelry store on Thursday as 37-year-old Tremont Dejuan Williams, of Hercules.
Williams had a previous address in Vallejo, police Lt. Ken Weaver said.
The owner of Carrillo's Jewelry Store at 529 Broadway St. shot and killed Williams in the store's office around 12:50 p.m., Weaver said.
The owner's wife called police to report that a robbery was occurring and that someone had been shot, Weaver said.
The couple told police the man had jumped over the counter, pulled out a handgun and gone into the office, Weaver said.
The owner was in the back office and shot the alleged robber because he feared for his life, Weaver said.
Medics from the Vallejo Fire Department and Medic Ambulance Service tried to revive Williams, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
