Vallejo Police Seeking Witnesses After Deadly Shooting
VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Police are looking for witnesses to the Vallejo shooting that fatally wounded 22-year-old Richmond resident Giovanni Fragozo last week.
Fragozo and a female friend had stopped at a 7-Eleven convenience store on Magazine Street about 1:15 a.m. Saturday.
While she was in the store, Fragozo was shot several times as he sat in her car in the parking lot at 1095 Magazine St., police said.
Police responded to a report of a shooting about 1:20 a.m. Saturday but did not find a victim, Lt. Ken Weaver said.
About 10 minutes later, Fragozo turned up at Sutter Solano Hospital in Vallejo after someone drove him there, Weaver said. He was transferred to University of California, Davis' hospital, where he died around 5 p.m.
Several people were inside the store and the parking lot at the time of the shooting, police said, and authorities said they hope some of the witnesses step forward to speak with detectives.
Fragozo's death was Vallejo's fourth homicide this year, Weaver said.
Anyone with information about the shootings is asked to contact the Police Department's major case section at (800) 488-9383. Anonymous callers can contact the Solano County Crime Stoppers tip line at (707) 644-STOP (7867).
