Vallejo Police Officer Shoots Robbery Suspect
VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A Vallejo police officer shot a robbery suspect in Vallejo early Saturday morning, according to police.
At 12:47 a.m., officers responded to the scene of an armed robbery that occurred outside of the Coconut Grove bar, located at 905 Lincoln Road East, police said.
The victim told police that the robbery involved three suspects and that one was armed with a chrome revolver, according to police.
The suspects were seen heading toward nearby Springs Road, police said.
Officers searched the area and at 1:34 a.m. uniformed officers saw three people in the parking lot toward the rear of the Blue Rock Inn, located at 2015 Springs Road.
Their clothing matched the description given by the victim, police said.
When the officers approached the trio, one fled toward the rear of the lot, reached into his waistband and pulled out a silver object while turning toward a pursuing officer, police said.
The officer, fearing for his life, drew his service weapon and
fire one round and hit the suspect, according to police.
The suspect was hit once and suffered an injury not considered life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital where was treated for his wound and he is being held there Saturday morning, police said.
According to police, the suspect is also wanted on a felony warrant out of San Francisco.
The incident is being investigated by the Solano County District Attorney's Office and the Vallejo Police Department.
The officer has been placed on administrative leave, as is department procedure.
The officer was not injured, police said.
