Vallejo Police Investigate Two Weekend Homicides
VALLEJO (BCN) - Police are investigating two homicides that appear to be unrelated -- a stabbing and a shooting -- that took place over the weekend, according to the Vallejo Police Department.
At 11:40 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of shots fired near Marin and Pennsylvania streets, police said.
Police were told that a man was down in the alley behind the 300 block of Pennsylvania Street.
Responding officers found 25-year-old Vallejo resident Anthony Costello, who had succumbed to gunshot wounds, police said.
A second shooting victim was driven to Kaiser Foundation Hospital by friends and was immediately taken into surgery, police said.
More than two hours later, while investigating the shooting, police were called to investigate a stabbing at Parkway Liquors on Lewis Brown Road at 1:58 a.m.
The victim, 35-year-old Vallejo resident Aaron Rudolph, was apparently involved in an altercation in front of the store and was stabbed by a male suspect, police said.
Rudolph staggered to the parking lot and was driven to Kaiser Hospital by passers-by, police said.
Rudolph succumbed to his injuries.
The two incidents were Vallejo's 15th and 16th homicides in 2010.
Anyone who has more information about either of these cases is encouraged to contact the Vallejo Police Department Major Crimes Section at (800) 488-9383.
