Vallejo Police Investigate Mysterious Confrontation Which Led To Two Dead
VALLEJO (KCBS) – Vallejo police have arrested a 65-year-old man on murder charges after a standoff Wednesday night that lasted about 45 minutes.
Investigators said they still don't know what sparked a fight between the suspect and the two victims, who were found dead on the front yard of the house on Foulkstone Way.
KCBS' Holly Quan Reports:
Police were called to the Glen Cove neighborhood around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday night. They said 65-year-old Martin Hohenegger walked across the street from his home to a neighbor's driveway and started arguing with the two men there.
Six to eight shots were fired, after which Hohenegger went back to his home and wouldn't come out until convinced by a police hostage negotiator.
"We attempted to interview the suspect, but he declined and was booked into county jail," said Vallejo police Sgt. Kevin Hambrick.
He said it's still not clear what led to the argument between the two parties.
"Typically, the harder part is the who done it. Most times, we figure out the why relatively quickly," said Hambrick. "But this is the opposite. We have the who done it but we don't have the why yet."
The names of the victims were not immediately released. The killings were Vallejo's 17th and 18th murders of the year.
