Vallejo Man Leads Police On Pursuit Through Vacaville, Allegedly Threw Drugs From Car Before Arrest
VACAVILLE (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a Vallejo man who led them on a vehicle pursuit Wednesday in Vacaville and then allegedly threw drugs from his car when police tried to detain him.
The pursuit started when officers tried to pull over a black Chevrolet Camaro near Interstate Highway 80 and Meridian Road, police said.
The driver failed to yield, prompting the pursuit.
Officers, with help from the California Highway Patrol, followed
the suspect vehicle to Sacramento County, where he was finally apprehended near Madison and Date avenues, in the community of North Highlands, according to police.
The driver, identified as 42-year-old Bernard Hicks of Vallejo, then allegedly threw a large bag from his vehicle.
When officers located the bag, inside they found a half a pound of powdered cocaine and over 5 ounces of crack cocaine, police said.
He was arrested on suspicion of evading police, possessing controlled substance for sale, transporting a controlled substance for sale, and destroying or concealing evidence.
He has been booked into the Solano County Jail, according to police.
