Vallejo Man Arrested For Santa Rosa Home Invasion Robbery; 2nd Suspect At Large
VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A Vallejo man was arrested Wednesday in connection with a home invasion robbery and assault in Santa Rosa in March, a police sergeant said.
Tiare Devon Berkley, 34, was believed to be one of two men who entered a home in the 200 block of Carina Drive in west Santa Rosa on March 3, Sgt. Eric Goldschlag said.
The suspects were wearing ski masks and gloves and were armed with a handgun and machete, Sgt. Dave Linscomb said.
They bound the arms and legs of a 36-year-old man who lives at the home, demanded cash, beat him and ransacked the home over the course of several hours, Linscomb said.
When a second resident, a 48-year-old man, arrived home, the suspects also bound and assaulted him, then fled with cash, Linscomb said.
The younger roommate was hospitalized for treatment of moderate wounds to his face and torso, and the older man was treated for cuts to his face and released, Linscomb said.
Santa Rosa and Vallejo police served a $2 million arrest warrant at Berkley's home in Vallejo and arrested him on Wednesday, Goldschlag said.
Berkley was booked into Solano County Jail for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon and false imprisonment. He will be transferred to the Sonoma County Jail and prosecuted in Sonoma County, Goldschlag said.
