Vacaville Murder Suspect's Girlfriend Faces Drug Charges
VACAVILLE (BCN) -- The girlfriend of a man suspected of killing two men and wounding a woman at a Vacaville residence on Tuesday, was arrested Thursday for maintaining a place for drug use, police said.
Nicole Ozment, 19, was in the house at 506 William St. early Tuesday morning when Cameron Scott Silva, 21, and Richard Marcham Perez, 20, of Vacaville, were shot to death, Sgt. Jeff King said.
Sarah Jane Berkheimer, 21, of Vacaville, was found with gunshot wounds outside the apartment. She is recovering at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
The shooting suspect is Ozment's boyfriend, Richard Ruben Calkins, 18, of Vacaville, who also is the father of her 7-month-old child, Vacaville police King said.
Ozment's child also was in the house at the time of the shootings, King said. The infant has been placed in protective custody.
Ozment was arrested around 2:15 p.m. Thursday for possession of marijuana, child endangerment, and maintaining a place for drug use, King said.
King said police are investigating the murders and drug sales at the house, and more arrests are possible. Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the shootings.
Calkins was arrested after he smashed windows inside the Vacaville Police Department on Merchant Street a few blocks from William Street shortly after the shootings, police said.
He suffered a head injury when he fell after he was shot by police officers with a Taser on the steps of the building, police said. Calkins refused to drop his gun and raise his arms, police said.
He was in guarded custody at a hospital Wednesday.
