I-80 In Vacaville Reopened After Fatal Collision
VACAVILLE (CBS SF) -- The California Highway Patrol has reopened all lanes of Interstate Highway 80 in Vacaville after one person was struck and killed early Sunday morning.
The person was apparently hit while outside their vehicle on westbound I-80 at Midway Road just before 3 a.m., CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.
The Sig-alert was canceled at about 5:10 a.m. after the two right lanes of the freeway were blocked for nearly two hours following the collision, he said.
It is not clear why the victim stepped outside the car, but officers are on the scene investigating the collision. Animal control has also been called to take the victim's dog, who appears to be unharmed inside the car, Caggiano said.
