USF Holds On Late To Defeat Holy Names

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Cody Doolin scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as San Francisco held off a late rally by Holy Names to take an 89-86 on Wednesday night.

The Dons (3-3) had a 24-point lead early in the second half but watched as the Hawks (3-7) rallied on 60.6 percent shooting to close the gap to a point with 5.2 seconds left.

San Francisco's Michael Williams hit two free throws with 3.9 seconds to go and the Dons quickly fouled Holy Names' Stephan Tee, who went on to miss his two free throw tries.

Williams, Moustapha Diarra and Cole Dickerson each added 13 points for the Dons while Perris Blackwell scored 11 points and pulled down 13 rebounds.

The Hawks' David Scott led the game with 30 points while Johnas Street added 16 and Tee 11.

San Francisco finished with 59.6 percent shooting and outrebounded the Hawks 43-22.
