USF Hangs On Against San Diego

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Perris Blackwell scored 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead San Francisco to a 61-47 victory over San Diego on Thursday night.

Michael Williams and Moustapha Diarra added 10 points apiece as the Dons (13-11, 7-2 West Coast) won for the ninth time in their past 11 games.

The Dons built a 31-17 halftime lead, but the Toreros (5-20, 1-9) opened the second half with 9-1 run, cutting San Francisco's advantage to 32-26 with 17:56 left.

Darian Norris scored 14 points and Ken Rancifer 13 for San Diego, which played without starting guard Matt Dorr, who was sidelined by an illness.

San Francisco will host first-place Saint Mary's on Saturday night in a battle between the conference's top two teams.
