Union City In-N-Out Shooting Leaves Hayward Man Critically Injured
UNION CITY (CBS SF) -- A 30-year-old Hayward man remains in critical condition after being shot at a Union City In-N-Out restaurant early Sunday morning.
Police are searching for a suspect in the shooting, 20-year-old Phi Pham of Hayward, whom they believe is a member of the "West Side Hayward" gang.
Sgt. Jared Rinetti said officers responded to the scene around 12:30 a.m. after Pham allegedly fired several rounds at a group of men sitting outside the fast food restaurant on Union Landing Boulevard.
The victim was shot in the chest and was rushed to a local hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries, police said.
Rinetti said Pham and a few other men got into an argument with the 30-year-old victim and his friends before the suspect began shooting.
A couple of bullets shot through the restaurant's glass windows during the incident, but none of the roughly 20 to 25 people inside were injured, police said.
Pham, who also goes by the nickname "Tommy", is described as an Asian man weighing about 140 pounds and is 5 feet 7 inches tall with brown eyes and black hair, according to police records.
