Uber Planning To Hire Former Felons
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Uber is planning to hire drivers from an untapped labor pool – former felons.
The ridesharing company announced Wednesday they will open their platform to nonviolent felons whose sentences have been reduced to misdemeanors.
For years, Uber has denied applicants with felony convictions the chance to drive.
The new push follows the passing of Proposition 47, which reduced some nonviolent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors in part of an effort to reduce California's prison population.
