UBER Claims Their Service Is Dramatically Reducing DUIs
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - San Francisco ride-sharing service UBER says that when their fleet of drivers arrives, DUIs appear to drop in major U.S. cities.
UBER's PR folks claim "In California, Uber's home state and largest market, drunk-driving crashes fell by 60 per month among drivers under 30 following the launch of UberX. That's an estimated 1,800 crashes prevented since July 2012, in the highest risk group for drunk driving."
That number comes from a study - done in partnership with Mother's Against Drunk Driving - which also notes high late-night ridership and DUI decreases in other major cities, including Miami and Seattle.
The complete report includes illustrations on ridership peaking around times of historic DUI spikes across the nation.
