Shooting At U.S. Capitol After Woman Tries To Ram White House Barricade
WASHINGTON (CBS/AP) - The U.S. Capitol building was placed on lockdown shortly after 11 a.m. Pacific time and Capitol police issued a shelter-in-place order Thursday afternoon following reports of shots fired nearby.
Representatives at the Washington Hospital Center said a suspect and a Capitol police officer were both being treated for injuries there. There are reports of other injuries as well.
The lockdown has been lifted but there is still a swarm of law enforcement on Capitol Hill.
Capitol Police Chief Kim Dine said incident began when a woman tried to ram a barricade at the White House with her vehicle. She then drove about a mile to the Capitol, where there were reports of gunfire.
