U-Haul Fire In Mountain View May Be Tied To Gas Thefts
MOUNTAIN VIEW (KCBS) – Nearly one dozen U-Haul moving trucks were burned Tuesday night in the city of Mountain View.
"Seven or eight trucks are pretty much totaled," said U-Haul Manager Earl Godhigh.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but Godhigh said that there's a chance that gas thieves are to blame. He said that people have been sneaking onto the property to siphon gas out of the trucks.
"The latest event was just last Thursday," said Godhigh.
Investigators plan to search with accelerant-sniffing dogs.
Investigators haven't yet released a damage estimate, but each of the U-Haul trucks cost between $30,000 and $40,000.
