Lockdown At Marin Schools Lifted After Police Determine No Threat
GREENBRAE (CBS SF) -- The lockdown at two schools in Greenbrae was lifted Thursday afternoon once authorities determined that a man spotted with a rifle in the area only had a BB gun, according to the Marin County Sheriff's Office.
Central Marin Police told KPIX 5 they have multiple reports of man with a rifle entering or near medical office building at 350 Bon Air Road. Officers were canvassing the area around office and medical complex.
Students at both Marin Catholic High School and Baisich Elementary School on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. were being kept inside during the police activity.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office tweeted shortly after 12:30 p.m. that the armed man they had received reports about from multiple callers was an employee at a medical building with a BB gun.
Authorities said that there was no threat to the public or students at the school, but did not have any immediate information as to why the man had the BB gun.
The Marin County Sheriff's Office tweeted that they are continuing to investigate the situation and will provide more information regarding the incident.
