Twin Peaks Hit-And-Run Turns Fatal; Driver Arrested On Felony DUI Charge

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and felony hit-and-run after a collision that killed a woman near the lookout point at San Francisco's Twin Peaks on Thursday night, a police spokesman said.

The victim, identified by the medical examiner's office as 56-year-old Chinese citizen Yuee Yao, died after a collision reported at about 8:50 p.m. on Christmas Tree Point Road, according to police.

A four-door sedan struck Yao and two other victims, knocking them off the roadway and down a hillside, while a fourth pedestrian managed to jump out of the way, police said.

The victims were taken to a hospital, where Yao was pronounced dead. The other pedestrians are expected to survive.

The sedan fled but was found parked in the Twin Peaks lookout point parking lot and the 23-year-old woman was arrested. Her name is not yet being released this morning, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

Two other occupants in the sedan, men ages 22 and 25, were also arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public, Shyy said. Their names were also not immediately available, he said.

A 17-year-old girl inside the car suffered minor injuries and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, Shyy said.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or to send a tip by text message to TIP411.
